Rumor vs. Reality

What early 2027 Camry coverage guessed, and what is actually confirmed.

Pre-release articles in spring 2026 speculated about a redesign. Here is what Toyota actually delivered for the 2027 model year, plus how to choose a trim.

🔄 Rumor: A Redesigned 2027 Camry

Early coverage described a sleeker body, more premium materials and a larger touchscreen. The confirmed 2027 Camry is a carryover of the ninth-generation sedan: same body, same cabin, same five trims. Its only change is price: +$100 on every trim.

⛽ Rumor: MPG Above 52

Pre-release coverage said engineers aimed to beat the current 52 mpg city rating. The powertrain is unchanged at 225 hp (232 hp AWD). Today's best rating is 51 mpg combined on the 2026 LE FWD; 2027 EPA numbers are not yet published.

💰 LE & SE ($29,700 / $32,200)

The LE is the efficiency and value pick at 51 mpg combined (~$882 a year in fuel) with fabric seats, available heated fronts and an available tilt/slide moonroof. The SE adds sport suspension, 18-inch black alloys, SofTex sport seats and an eight-way power driver's seat at 46 mpg.

⭐ XLE & XSE ($34,900 / $36,100)

Both step up to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and standard heated front seats. The XLE pairs comfort tuning with quilted leather and Dinamica seats; the XSE adds sport tuning and 19-inch wheels. The Premium Package ($3,810) brings ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof, a 10-inch head-up display and nine-speaker JBL audio.

🌑 Nightshade

Nightshade is an appearance package on SE mechanics with 19-inch black alloys. It drives like an SE, keeps the 8-inch screen and tilt/slide moonroof option, and adds the dark look.

🔧 Turbo? Not on Any Camry

Every Camry runs a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder, 184 hp on its own, teamed with electric motors for 225 hp. No trim offers a turbo. If turbo power is on your list, the closest cross-shop is the gas-only Honda Accord LX or SE with its 1.5-liter turbo and 192 hp.

Atlanta Commute Guide

How a Camry hybrid fits the roads you actually drive.

Atlanta traffic is stop-and-go more often than not, which is where a hybrid earns back its keep. Here is how the Camry lines up with the corridors, venues and weather metro buyers ask us about.

GA-400

Buckhead to Alpharetta, one brake light at a time

Rush hour on 400 through Sandy Springs and Roswell is mostly crawl-and-stop, and that is where a hybrid pulls ahead of a gas-only sedan. The Camry LE is rated 52 mpg in the city and 49 on the highway, so slow traffic actually helps it. On weekends the same road heads north toward Dahlonega.

Camry fit: LE FWD for mpg. XLE or XSE with Premium Plus for Traffic Jam Assist.
I-285

The Perimeter, all 64 miles of it

The loop links I-20 near Stonecrest and I-85 toward Union City with Cobb, Sandy Springs and Doraville. The Top End between I-75 and I-85, Spaghetti Junction included, is where most commutes stall. Adaptive cruise with lane centering comes standard on every Camry, which takes some strain out of the slow miles.

Camry fit: Any trim. AWD adds grip when afternoon thunderstorms roll through.
I-75 / I-85

The Downtown Connector and the HOV question

I-75 and I-85 share the same lanes through downtown and Midtown, and the HOV lanes there are the fastest way through at rush hour. A hybrid does not earn a solo pass: Georgia does not issue AFV plates to hybrids, and the solo exemption for AFV plates ended September 30, 2025. Bring one passenger and the Camry rides the HOV lane like any carpool.

Camry fit: LE for city mpg. Use the Peach Pass Verify app for 3+ carpools on the I-85 Express Lanes.
Truist Park

Braves games at The Battery

Truist Park sits at the I-75 and I-285 interchange in Cobb County, so a weeknight first pitch lands in the evening rush. After the game, lots empty slowly, and a Camry can often creep through the exit line on battery power instead of idling. The reversible I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes nearby require a Peach Pass.

Camry fit: XLE or XSE with Premium Plus adds the 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor for tight parking decks.
I-20 East

Stonecrest and the east side

Nalley Toyota Stonecrest is off I-20 in Lithonia, in DeKalb County, a short drive from Stone Mountain Park. I-20 east of downtown carries HOV lanes, so east-side carpoolers have a faster path into the city. It is also a good stretch to compare the XSE's sport tuning against the XLE's comfort setup.

Camry fit: Test drive the XSE and XLE listed at Stonecrest back to back on the same roads.
I-85 South

Union City, the airport and South Fulton

Nalley Toyota Union City is southwest of Hartsfield-Jackson in Fulton County, which makes airport runs and South Fulton commutes the natural test route. Short trips with frequent stops are where a hybrid's gas engine spends the most time switched off.

Camry fit: The SE and LE listed at Union City are ready to drive today.
Summer

Ninety-degree afternoons

Atlanta summers are long, hot and humid, so seat ventilation matters more here than in most markets. The XLE and XSE offer ventilated front seats, and every Camry has dual-zone automatic climate with rear-seat vents. Toyota hybrids drive the A/C compressor electrically, so the cabin keeps cooling at red lights when the gas engine shuts off.

Camry fit: XLE or XSE with the Premium Package for ventilated seats.
Ice & Mountains

Ice storms and North Georgia weekends

Snow is rare here, but ice can shut the region down, as the January 2014 storm did when commuters were stranded on metro interstates overnight. Camry AWD uses a rear electric motor, costs $1,525 and helps on slick on-ramps and mountain roads toward Blue Ridge. Good tires still matter more than drive type.

Camry fit: SE AWD or XLE AWD keep 46 mpg combined; XSE AWD drops to 43.

What your commute costs in fuel

Estimated yearly fuel at $3.00 a gallon using EPA combined ratings. Example: a 40-mile round trip, 250 workdays a year, is 10,000 miles.

Real questions from Atlanta Camry shoppers. Direct answers.

What changed on the 2027 Toyota Camry compared to the 2026?

Only the price. Every 2027 trim is $100 above the current 2026 MSRP: the LE goes from $29,600 to $29,700 and the XSE from $36,000 to $36,100, before the $1,295 destination charge. The 2.5L hybrid, 225 hp (232 hp with AWD), five trims, cabin and 15.1 cu ft trunk all carry over. No redesign, no new powertrain.

Is the 2027 Camry redesigned?

No. Early pre-release coverage speculated about a redesign, a bigger screen and mpg above 52. The confirmed 2027 lineup is a carryover of the ninth-generation Camry: same hybrid system, same trims, same available all-wheel drive. The only confirmed change is a $100 MSRP increase.

Should I buy a 2026 or wait for a 2027 Camry in Atlanta?

Buy the 2026 if you want the car now. The hardware is identical, the 2026 MSRP is $100 lower, and Nalley has six 2026 Camrys listed at Stonecrest and Union City with free delivery within 100 miles. The 2027's only real extras are the newer model year and, in metro Atlanta, one more year before its first emissions test.

How much is the 2027 Toyota Camry?

The 2027 Camry LE starts at $29,700 MSRP, or $30,995 with the $1,295 destination charge. The SE is $32,200, Nightshade $33,200, XLE $34,900 and XSE $36,100 ($37,395 with destination). All-wheel drive adds $1,525 on any trim, topping out at $37,625 for the XSE AWD.

What is the Camry's gas mileage, and what does it cost per year?

The 2026 Camry LE FWD is rated 51 mpg combined (52 city / 49 highway). SE, XLE and XSE FWD are 46 mpg combined (47 / 45). XSE AWD drops to 43 mpg. At 15,000 miles a year and $3.00 a gallon, that is roughly $882 for the LE, $978 for SE, XLE and XSE FWD, and $1,047 for the XSE AWD. 2027 EPA ratings are not yet published.

How much trunk space and legroom does the Camry have?

Every Camry trim, FWD or AWD, has a 15.1 cu ft trunk with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Front legroom is 42.1 inches and rear legroom is 38.0 inches, with 37.6 inches of rear headroom. If back-seat space is your top priority, the Honda Accord Hybrid offers more: 40.8 inches of rear legroom and a 16.7 cu ft trunk.

Does the Toyota Camry have a turbocharged engine?

No. Every 2026 and 2027 Camry uses a naturally aspirated 2.5L inline four-cylinder (184 hp on its own) paired with electric motors for 225 total horsepower, or 232 hp with AWD, through an eCVT. In this class, the turbo shows up on the gas-only Honda Accord LX and SE, which use a 1.5L turbo rated at 192 hp.

Which Camry trims have heated seats, ventilated seats and a sunroof?

Heated front seats are available on the LE and SE and standard on the XLE and XSE. Ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel are available only on the XLE and XSE. LE, SE and Nightshade can add a power tilt/slide moonroof; XLE and XSE offer a panoramic glass roof with a front tilt/slide section.

Is Camry all-wheel drive worth it in Atlanta?

For most metro Atlanta drivers, front-wheel drive is enough. AWD adds $1,525 and 7 hp (232 vs. 225) through a rear electric motor, costs no mpg on SE or XLE, but drops XSE from 46 to 43 mpg and LE from 51 to 50. Choose AWD for North Georgia mountain roads, summer downpours and the occasional ice storm; choose FWD to maximize mpg and save money.

Which Camry trim is best?

The LE is best for price and fuel economy (51 mpg). The XLE is best for comfort: leather and Dinamica seats, standard heated front seats and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The SE and XSE suit drivers who want sport-tuned suspension. Nightshade is an appearance package on SE mechanicals with 19-inch black wheels.

Which 2026 Toyota Camry trims does Nalley have in stock?

Nalley lists six new 2026 Camry hybrids: an XSE, an XLE and two LEs at Nalley Toyota Stonecrest (Lithonia), and an SE ($35,884) and an LE ($42,155) at Nalley Toyota Union City. Prices exclude tax and tag and include an $899 dealer service charge and $198.50 title service fee.

Can I buy a Toyota Camry online and have it delivered in Atlanta?

Yes. Nalley lets you complete the purchase online with Clicklane. Delivery is free within 100 miles of the dealership, so addresses in Cobb, Gwinnett, Cherokee, Forsyth and Henry counties are all in range. Every listing carries a 7-day no-questions-asked return and a 30-day exchange guarantee.

How much Georgia tax will I pay on a new Camry?

Georgia charges a one-time 7% Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) instead of sales tax and an annual car tax. On $30,995, the 2027 LE's MSRP plus destination, 7% is about $2,170. Dealer fees add to the taxable amount, while your trade-in value and any manufacturer rebates come off it when you buy from a dealer. Nalley's Georgia TAVT guide walks through the math.

Does a new Camry need an emissions test in metro Atlanta?

Not at first. Emissions testing applies in 13 metro counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale. The three newest model years are exempt, so a 2026 Camry's first test comes with its 2029 registration and a 2027's with its 2030 registration. After that, the test is annual.

Can I drive a Camry Hybrid alone in Atlanta's HOV lanes?

No. Georgia does not issue Alternative Fuel Vehicle plates to conventional hybrids, and the solo-driver HOV exemption for AFV plates ended on September 30, 2025. A Camry needs two or more people in the HOV lanes on the Downtown Connector and elsewhere. The I-85 Express Lanes require a Peach Pass and charge a toll unless you have three or more people verified through the Peach Pass Verify app.

Does Georgia charge an extra annual fee for hybrids?

Not for the Camry. Georgia's annual alternative fuel vehicle fee, $238.59 for non-commercial vehicles registered from July 1, 2026, applies to all-electric vehicles and to plug-in hybrids that choose an AFV plate. Conventional hybrids like the Camry are exempt, so you pay the same standard registration fee as a gas-only car.

Which Camry is best for a GA-400 or I-285 commute?

The LE FWD. It is the only Camry rated above 50 mpg combined, and its 52 mpg city rating beats its 49 mpg highway rating, so stop-and-go stretches like the Top End Perimeter and GA-400 through Sandy Springs play to its strengths. Every trim gets adaptive cruise with lane centering; the XLE and XSE Premium Plus Package adds Traffic Jam Assist.
