What's New for 2027 Compact SUVs in Atlanta: RAV4, CR-V, Tucson & Sportage

By Daniel Covington

Which 2027 compact SUV changed the most?

Of the four, the Honda CR-V has the most genuine 2027 news: Google built-in and a rebalanced hybrid lineup. The Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage are both light carryovers this year. The RAV4 already made its big change for 2026 — an all-new generation, hybrid-only — and 2027 simply continues it. The Sportage gets a small price increase and a few features added to one trim.

The Hyundai Tucson is the one to know about rather than shop yet. The fully redesigned model isn't at U.S. dealers as a 2027 yet, so what's on Atlanta lots right now is still the 2026 generation.

What's new on the 2027 Toyota RAV4?

Less than the "2027" label suggests. Toyota rebuilt the RAV4 from the ground up for the 2026 model year — new sheet metal, a new cabin, new software — and eliminated the gas-only engine entirely in favor of hybrid and plug-in hybrid power. The 2027 RAV4 carries that generation forward essentially unchanged.

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid remain your only two choices. The standard hybrid makes 226 hp front-wheel drive or 236 hp all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid adds more power and roughly 50 miles of electric-only range before the gas engine joins in. At the 2026 launch, Toyota priced the hybrid LE from $31,900 and the plug-in hybrid SE from $41,500 — confirm current 2027 pricing before quoting it, since these are launch-year figures.

Every trim gets a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster standard, with a larger touchscreen and Toyota's newer software available on higher trims. Trims group into three themes: Core (LE, XLE, Limited) for most daily driving, Rugged (Woodland) for gravel roads and light off-pavement use, and Sport (SE, XSE, GR Sport) for a firmer, quicker-feeling setup. What's new on the 2027 Honda CR-V?

The real headline is narrower than a lot of early coverage made it sound: Google built-in is exclusive to the top Sport Touring Hybrid trim, not the whole EX-and-up lineup. It bundles Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Gemini into the infotainment system, with three months of data included before you'd need your own plan.

The gas engine makes 190 hp. The four hybrid trims (Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid) share a 2.0-liter, two-motor system rated at 204 hp combined. Fuel economy varies by drivetrain: 2WD hybrid is rated 43 mpg city / 36 highway, hybrid AWD (Sport, Sport-L, Sport Touring) comes in at 40/34, and the TrailSport Hybrid AWD is rated 38/33. All of them beat the gas models' 27–28 city. LX and EX-L stay gas-only.

What's new on the 2027 Hyundai Tucson?

Less than you'd think, because the redesigned Tucson isn't the one on Atlanta lots yet. Hyundai's own site currently shows the 2026 Tucson as the model for sale now, priced from $29,700 for gas, $31,300 for hybrid, and $40,675 for plug-in hybrid — and that's what you'll actually find and drive at a dealer today.

The all-new, next-generation Tucson is real, and early coverage describes a bigger jump than usual: a boxier, more rugged look, a larger cabin, and a new infotainment system. It's expected in Korea first, with U.S. arrival as a 2027 model reported sometime between late 2026 and mid-2027 — but Hyundai hasn't confirmed a U.S. on-sale date. If the current Tucson is on your list, you may be looking at the outgoing shape for a while longer. If the redesign is what you're after, treat this one as a "watch," not a "shop this month."

What's new on the 2027 Kia Sportage?

Mostly a carryover year with a modest price increase. The gas LX FWD now starts at $28,990 plus a $1,495 destination charge — confirm current pricing before quoting it to a customer.

The real news is limited to the X-Line trim, which now gets a standard panoramic sunroof, a smart power liftgate, and a new Road Rider Brown paint option with an available two-tone roof. Those were previously part of a separate package. Every other trim, including the hybrid and plug-in hybrid, carries over largely unchanged.

Which one actually makes sense for an Atlanta commute?

If most of your driving is GA-400 or I-285 stop-and-go, the CR-V Hybrid or RAV4 Hybrid will save you more at the pump than either gas alternative. Both handle Atlanta's summer heat fine with normal maintenance.

If you do real weekend towing or gravel-road driving up toward the mountains, the RAV4's Woodland trim is built for that in a way the others aren't. If a plug-in matters to you for the electric-only commute or a possible Georgia Alternative Fuel plate for HOV access, the RAV4 Plug-In is the one to look at. Confirm current HOV eligibility rules before counting on that, since they've changed before.

Pollen season is real here, and the CR-V's efficient cabin systems on newer trims are a genuine, if small, quality-of-life edge each spring.

Where can you compare these near Atlanta?

Frequently asked questions

Is the redesigned 2027 Hyundai Tucson available at dealers now?
No. What's currently on lots is the 2026 generation. The redesigned model is reported for U.S. arrival as a 2027-model-year vehicle sometime between late 2026 and mid-2027, with no confirmed on-sale date yet.

Is the 2027 RAV4 still available with a gas-only engine?
No. Toyota moved the entire RAV4 lineup to hybrid or plug-in hybrid power starting with the redesigned 2026 model, and the 2027 carries that forward — there's no gas-only option.

Which 2027 compact SUV is cheapest to start?
Of the four, the Kia Sportage has the lowest confirmed starting price, at $28,990 before destination. Confirm current RAV4 and CR-V pricing before comparing directly — the figures here are from each model's official launch pricing, and 2027 numbers may differ slightly.

Does the Honda CR-V's Google built-in cost extra, and which trim has it?
It's exclusive to the Sport Touring Hybrid trim and comes with three months of data included; ongoing data service afterward is a separate charge. Confirm current terms before quoting them to a customer.
